i wish….
…..i wish i am rich, i wish i’m slimmer, i wish i have flawless skin, i wish i got a bigger house, i wish i have smarter kids. how many of us are guilty of that, wishing for something we are not /dont have. i’m one of them :shy: sometimes i forget to count my blessings & start comparing myself with somebody who has more things or better life than me. just the other nite i was comparing andrew to some husbands who communicate well with their wives. who makes the time to call their wives at work or at home to ask what they had for lunch or even just to say hi! but i 4get everthing that he has done for me & the kids. the sacrifices he made to provide for the family.
i’d like to share this story whch i’ve read somewhere about this old but unwise man whose always complaining. fed up with his life, that he bundled up all his ‘burdens’ & put them into a sack. he wanted to bring it to the ‘Burdens Exchange Market’ so that he could exchange it with somebody else’s sack. he saw a man about to dump his ‘burden’ at the market, a sack of gold. so he quickly took it thinking that he’s got a good exchange. when he shouldered the sack & made his journey back he realised the sack was just to heavy. so he went back to the market & change it to a sack of precious gem stones. wouldnt be that heavy he thot. but soon he realised that the weight has taken its toll too. grumbling, he went back to the market & this time he exchange it with the lightest one, a sack of sweet smelling roses. as he stated off on his way back ,he got pricked by the thorns of the roses. this is absolutely painful compare to the 2 heavier loads he had exchanged earlier. groaning in pain, the now wise old man went back to the market & exchanged back the sack he originally brought & off he went happily back home.
we’re just human. we’ll always be making comparisons. we’ll always be dissatisfied. we’ll always be wishing. so before we get drifted away further with our envies, before we start wishing for more or better things in life or circumstances, stop right there & start praying. we just need to be shaken till we are down to our knees & remind our self to start thanking God for His bag of blessings. we just need to be reminded to start counting our blessings & learn to value what God has already given us.
