Impact of Media on our Children
yesterday was the 7th sunday of easter. pope benedict the 16th has decided to commemorate this day as the world communication day with the emphasis of nurturing & protecting our little ones & young adults from the media & their influences. we all know that the media plays a huge important role in our lives but not at the expense of our youngsters due to its high influencial existence.
its an evil world out there. we not only worry about who they mixed with outside but we need to monitor their activities at home as well coz thats where mostly the media takes place. that includes tv programs, magazines, the internet, even newspapers (believe it or not!) yes, they offer some form of entertainment, cultures, sports, news, education. they play such an important role in our lives but they may also feeding our childrens’ mind with loads of crap! even to my 5 yr old son, randy he finds it so amusing when he sees a woman wearing low cut - showing off her near spill out boobs with deep cleavage advert in the newspaper on breasts augmentations!
so we as parents, guardian, caregivers, should play even more important role to see that these kids do not succumb themselves to any unneccessary vices or learn anything against morality. i guess it is important that we should start educating our children from as young as possible. teach & communicate with them as often about the strong possible effects of the media. why is it certain media is sending you a wrong message & we need to be clear & consistent all the time. its better for us to be strict now before its too late.
