Serve Unconditionally
i find that today’s gospel is a continuance of my very last post - to love is to give. when james & john, sons of zabeedee asked Jesus that in His glory, He is to grant them to be sitted one on each of His left & right. but Jesus replied that its not up to Him to give cos its meant only for those for whom its prepared.
what i can understand from this is that we are expected to serve Him without any motives. but would you agreed that many of us actually fall into this sinful category. many of us has the desire of His Kingdom but few desire the cross. many will seek for his consolations but few will care less about His trials. many want to rejoice with Him but few are willing to suffer anything for His sake. this ‘many’ people are the selfish followers of Jesus. yes they are devoted to Jesus but all for a reason. & its definitely not for Him but for His gifts. they follow Him for what they can get but not what they can give.
Jesus was completely unselfish in His self sacrifice for us. we should never be contented until we have succeeded in serving Him for His sake. too many times we do things for Jesus, but for a selfish reason. He deserves more. to put Him first & to love Him above everything else. so we should strive to purify our motives by an honest desire to please Him without any gain to ourselves. that is a true follower.
“…whoever wishes to be great among you will be your servant; whoever wishes to be first among you will be the slave. For the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve & to give His life as ransom for many…” (Mk 10:43-45)

It takes great humility and sacrifice to serve unconditionally. Our human instinct simply doesn’t allow us to behave that way naturally.

hey bro! long time no see!
…our human instinct simply doesn’t allow us to behave that way naturally..
well, i do agree with you but that’s a reason why God gave us the grace of disernment, to make a correct choice in all that we do. we dont simply do what our mind tells us to do but what our heart thinks is righteous. GB!
