  1. few slices of batang (mackerel?) fish. marinate in yellow ginger powder & salt and then fry them till golden brown. set aside.
  2. all ingredients (except the coconut milk & tamarind!) to be blended.
  3. fry the blended ingredients till dry and fragrant.
  4. when dried, add in about 1/3 cup of coconut milk
  5. add in a bowl of water
  6. add in assam (tamarind) mixed in another bowl of water

leave to simmer…then add in the rest of the coconut milk and the fried fish. if you noticed i’ve put in tomatoes for some colours. leave to boil. don’t forget salt to taste smile . that’s it! anyway, will leave it to your own descretion on how spicy you want it to be. whether you want to increase, reduce or omitt the chillies, it’s totally up to you.

2 great tips. the more sour, the better! &  (only if you have time and not that ermm..lazy… smile )roast 3-4 tblspn of grated coconut and blend together with the chilli ingredients. wuah…shiok man! i know, i know, this dish is very sinful…lots of coconut (so go easy on it) but i can tell you this ….mmmm….its hea….ven……guaranteed, you’ll eat more rice! wink
