Assumption of Mother Mary
today we find ourselves on the threshold of eternity. the life of our Holy Mother has now been concluded on earth…the church proclaims the glory of her final assumption in heaven. “God who is mighty has done great things for me” (Luke 1:49). our Mother’s whole heart is manifested in those words of Magnificat. they are her spritual testament. it is the praise and glory of God. remembering what God has done for His people from the beginning of time, about His promises, about His goodness. His goodness to Mother Mary and thus the goodness of what God will do for us.
yes, indeed, God has done great things for us. so, can each of us look at our own life with the eyes of our Mother Mary’s? how we marvel on her all-consuming love and complete self dedication, so pure and so pleasing to God. when she received the praises of her cousin elizabeth, she immediately directed those praises to God, source of all goodness. when the angel appeared before her with a message, she responded by devoting herself unreservedly to God’s holy will .
wouldn’t this give us a new outlook of our spiritual life. a life leading to holiness and persevering faith. a faith which is the light of our daily life. of days which sometimes are smooth sailing but often stormy and challenging. a faith which finally lightens up the darkness in each one of us. let this outlook on life be the fruit of the feast of the Assumption.
Hail Mary full of grace….
