Are We Prepared?
“therefore stay awake! for you do not know on which day the Lord will come” (Mat 24:42)
wah! it was not long ago that i think i’ve commented in 1 of tracy’s blog - something about death. somehow today’s gospel serves as a reminder. is that a message for me? is my time running out or what? ok, this gives me the goosebumps.
the very one thing on this earth that we are most certain is death. even the atheist will believe this as much. but how ready are we. are we prepared to enter the next life? we should not deceive ourselves thinking that we have plenty of time. our life can be snatched away unexpectedly.
how many incidents do we hear people die of a car accident, good swimmers died of drowning, another was killed in a fire or murdered in a robbery. one can also just passed away while sitting at a table or even sleeping. recently, a man just collapsed while running in a marathon. i mean, would we know when’s our time? not at all.
again it gives me the creep whenever i think about it. i know i’m not prepared. there’ll come a time when i will ask the Lord for another day or another hour for that matter just to make up (that is if i know i’m going to go). but you know what? how about we take that day and/or that hour now that we have the time. no one can guarantee us another hour when we feel our life is slipping away. we should always be ready for it.
death, may come at any time. we should face the fact that with all the uncertainties, it is inevitable. we should not fear death tho thinking about it makes my heart palpitate like crazy! but like i’ve shared this before with tracy, a wise man reflects on the hour of death often so that he can be prepared at all time. tsk tsk tsk…not easy man….not easy….
….to be continued….
